Welcome! My name is Robyn Poulsen. This is my 24th (!) year teaching high school mathematics ~ the last 17 of which have been at Lake Placid Middle/High School. I look forward to teaching you some great math while having fun.
In my many years of teaching I have taught every level of secondary math from grade 7 to Precalculus and AP Statistics. It is always my goal to teach my students really good math; but I also want them to enjoy math! We will use the most current technology, sing, play games, and do whatever it takes to make learning math fun.
Again this year - NO HOMEWORK WEEKENDS! We're going to do plenty of good math all week. I'm encouraging my students to take the weekend off and enjoy their families and friends.
In July 2016, I became a T^3 National Instructor (Teachers Teaching with Technology) through Texas Instruments, after having been a Regional Instructor for 3 years. We will be using the nSpires and Navigator system extensively in class this year. We are definitely ahead of the game with this technology in Lake Placid.
I'm looking forward to a great year!
In April 2014, I was awarded a New York State Master Teacher Fellowship. What that means for you is I'll be working with some of the best Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) teachers throughout New York State to make the math you learn in my classes even more meaningful and relevant than ever before.
